Better Books and Beautiful Books for Self-publishers
Better books and beautiful books do not just happen because someone flips a switch. They do not manufacture themselves, and all printers and services are not the same.
You work hard on your manuscript. If you are a photographer or artist, you are undoubtedly proud of your work. A lot of effort and maybe money is spent to get to this point. Self-publishers shouldn’t undo all their great work that brought them to the point. Get quality book printing.
Beautiful books translates to more book sales.
Better books means fewer returns and happy readers.
What are the two biggest mistakes self-publishers make when printing?
They print books on-demand not realizing the quality of books they will receive. POD is printing a few books at a time. There are two ways POD services work.
1. They output a few books on a digital output device, which is something like high-end desktop printers. However, they print with toner that smears, not ink.
2. Books print in short runs, for example 350 or 500 books at a time. Large-format coffee table books, photography books, or art books, are not printed in short runs, at least not professionally.
Why choose a POD short run of 500 books when you can have 1,000 better books, and more beautiful books? Print with Star Print Brokers for virtually same cost.
So, if you are paying close to the same per copy cost for 500 POD hardcover books, as 1,000 hardcover print books, how much more profit can you make with Star Print Brokers printing? Plus, you are getting better books, and more beautiful books too! How much more can you sell better books that print on press, versus a POD book?
If you want more beautiful books as well as better books, work with Star Print Brokers

Here is another huge mistake to avoid
Self-publishers who do an ebook as a substitute for physical coffee table books are making a big mistake. They are certainly mot getting a better book or a more beautiful book!
Folks, why do they call them coffee table books? Because they are meant to be a beautiful book to rest on a coffee table in your home or office! They are meant to admire for their beauty, and pleasurably read for their content. If books are not demonstrate quality, are beautifully printed and securely bound, then they are surely a disappointment.
However, a novel is another story, but …
I do think ebooks are wonderful for novels. But, you don’t place novels on your coffee table for guests to admire or browse through either! If everyone thought ebooks were the only way to go, we would no longer have print books. That is not the case.
Readers still love the touch and feel of a book in their hands. They appreciate beautiful books with custom options.
Don’t forget that when you have a greater demand for your ebook, you should consider printing a minimum run of 1,000 copies. As you print more books in one run, the cost per copy goes down, and the profit you make increases. Make more profit per book.
Beautiful books for self-publishers
The definition of beautiful books is not limited to high-quality process color printing and accurate color reproductions. Beautiful books are have special details that set them apart. Star Print Brokers has options that are not found when printing on demand or in short runs. In fact, we have options not found at very many printing companies.
Better books without the usual POD manufacturing worries
Better books means fewer returns and happy readers. It also means secure bindings, printing in signatures, and not a page at a time. Star Print Brokers manufactures better book, and has since 1999.
So what is print on-demand good for?
A soft cover, paperback book without expectation of great color, or fine paper stock. But even then, when we print on press, we can add things like French flaps. Self-publisher love embossing cover titles with foils too. By the way, we have many color choices of foils to make better books as well as beautiful books.
A word about hardcover books
Print on-demand services are not set up to do hardcover bindings well. They are almost always side sewn, and we frequently have POD books presented to us by self-publishers, with pages falling out. I’ve already said it, but it bears repeating … We print and bind better books and any POD service.
Plus, you don’t get all the options that we provide.
They biggest mistake of all is to invest time and money in a book that ultimately is poorly bound and with smudge printing, and inaccurate color?.
Why go to all the trouble, wanting better books, wanting beautiful books, and then handing your files over to a service to print it on the cheap? In our experience, it is simply a big mistake.
