Book Printing China (Asia)
“Book printing Asia” is what we do. But, many self-publishers search for “book printing china.” We need to be found, so that is why we use the “China” search term. But, let’s explain!
Working from offices in Bellevue, WA.
Book printing China … oops, no. We mean book printing Asia. Firstly, we are Americans who work from our offices in Bellevue, Washington. Secondly, our business like so many others depends on clients finding us. They wish to learn about what we do and how we can help them succeed as self-publishers.
Our primary business is high-quality book printing in Asia for authors and small publishers. We look at the results for certain keyword phrases for the purpose of search engine optimization. The results are that the term “China” beat out “Asia” by a wide margin, even though China is just one country in Asia. Therefore, we use both terms. But, we never will print in China.
We provide (usually) same day “ballpark” quotes. Allow 24 to 48 hours for firm. written quotes.
Our job involves investigation.
We broker book printing. This means that we do not work for any one printer, and that is a good thing for authors. We negotiate better pricing as we print in volume and printers are eager to get our business, and to keep it too.
We investigate what presses and equipment a printer has for the job of book printing. How many presses to they have at heir facility? Web or sheet fed? Are they 1-color, 4-color, 6-color? Even if we do our pre-check and they fit the bill, we still have to test and re-test our printers over time. Staff may come and go, but key press people are just as important and the equipment and knowledge.
Our select cadre; few but expert.
Developing relationships over the years is a small cadre of printers with whom we negotiate. They have different offerings, presses and options. Since we are experts in color reproduction, we will advise our clients about color too, if asked.
Even if the book files are fine, we need to make sure that color printing on press will be done correctly. We use printers for different reasons, because within our small group, they have varied strengths. By brokering business to several printers, we can supply the best of the best to our clients.
Our backgrounds.
Star Print Brokers began printing for clients in 1999. Right away, we developed book printing almost exclusively. Our skill set and employment backgrounds give us the experience to not only broker book printing from manufacturers, and to do so with expertise. Asia versus China.
We tried to print in China years ago. The results were disastrous and because we stand behind the books we print and the China printers do not, we covered the costs with our clients.
Whether it means printing in the USA or overseas, just any printer will not due. Printing, particularly book printing and binding is an art. We have high standards.
Asia versus USA.
Yes, we would love to print in the USA, always. We cannot as the cost is high and the quality not as good as what we get with our select printers. The printing and binding that we get with our select cadre of printers is superior to any USA printer that we try to work with. Even recently, we contacted a US printer to get samples, and quotes. We didn’t get a call back!
Nancy worked for printers and color houses year ago, and found that clients complained about reps not calling them back. They couldn’t even get quotes. She knew that was not a way to run a business!
It is not the country. It’s the printer.
It’s not just the fact that a company prints books. There are lots of them! But with our expertise, we narrow the choices down to who truly provides the best quality coupled with reasonable pricing. We offer great customer service, so we need behind the scenes staff that is responsive and dependable.
What is a press proof?
Yawn … print on-demand touting touting press proofs. It is a pet peeve of mine. Most don’t understand what a press proof is, or is not.
First you set up the commercial printing press, make plates and ink up the press. You do a few “make readies,” and then print off the signatures. Ink on paper is a press proof. Toner on paper is not. And that is what you get if copies are output on a digital output device. That is not a press.
