It is especially important to us to have professional photographers happy with color reproduction, printing and binding, just like Onne van der Wal.
Book styles overview.
Book styles … quite a few different types are manufacturing by Star Print Brokers book printing services for self-publishers. We negotiate reasonable costs for quality books and items related to books. Minimum 1,000 hardcover, 2,000 soft cover or 1,000 board books.
Hardcover books.
A hardcover binding is a hardback book. The binding elements of a hardcover book are the boards with a cover wrap affixed to them, endpapers, and the interior page block. The book may or may not have a dust jacket. A 3-way binding is beautiful. See our gallery images. It is one cover wrap on spine and partially on covers. The rest of the front and back covers have a different cover wrap. Many options are available.
Soft cover books.
The soft cover book styles are also known as paperback books. We offer options like French flaps, foil embossing, and a choice of gloss or matte laminate on the print covers and spine. We also can to a spot gloss varnish over just the images, as we option do for a hardcover coffee table book. The spot varnish is an extra cost.
Wire-O books.
Wire-O book styles can be hardcover or soft cover. They can also be a standard no spine Wire-O binding, or have a sine that is concealed or semi-concealed.
Board books.
Read about board books for babies and small children. they are always manufactures with safe inks and paper stock.
Fixed layout ebooks.
We convert books to ebooks. Our staff can convert any book file into any format, including epub and mobi formats. while we create standard ebooks. The fixed-layout ebook format is popular. Ebooks are a great add-on to any printing order. The cost starts from just $99 for fixed-layout ebooks.
More than books …
We find that all types of book styles and options are found at various printers. However, we utilize just a few key vendors. Brokering with key resources means that we can help authors self-publish books with more options, have higher quality manufacturing, and have all this at a reasonable cost. Many quality or unique options are not found at print on-demand services, many printers, or at any one book manufacturer.
We offer professional book design.
There are graphic artists and then there are book designers. Few school teach book design specifically, so Nancy Starkman wrote the book, Book Design: Simple & Professional. She can design your book as well. See her personal website.

Do you have your own ISBN?
ISBN and Barcode.
There is no need to buy a pack of 10 ISBNs. Star Print Brokers is an authorized agent for the only US ISBN agency. We are authorized to sell a single ISBN and barcode. The self-publisher is always the publisher with their own ISBN, not Star Print Brokers or a POD provider.
However, if you are buying an ISBN for a print title and you will also publish an ebook, then you will need two ISBNs. Also, if you have a paperback, hardcover and ebook, you will need an ISBN for each format. Consequently, it makes more sense to buy a pack of 10 ISBNs directly from ISBN.org.
Book styles … and add-ons
Slip cases.
We have slip case manufacturing for individual books, and for book sets. The minimum quantity is 100. They are manufactured when we print and bind your book, and not sold separately. Slip cases make it possible to charge a higher retail price, greater than the cost to manufacture a slip cases.
Bumper boxes.
Bumper boxes are custom made boxes for individual books. We manufacturer cases for books that are suitable for mailing. The boxes have a bumper inside to keep books safe. You can have printing on the boxes, or no printing at all. Stock can be white or craft box color. They can to printed with a logo, background pattern, or any design. Book products include all kinds of boxes. We can manufacture boxes to package retail goods such as retail baby books or card decks.
Calendars.
Wall Calendars make a cost-effective add-on to an art book, photography book, or coffee table book. Example: Print 12″ x 12″ calendars to go with print books. In this example, the paper stock would be 150 gsm text and 250 gsm cover. Offset printing is in process color. There are no extra costs for heavy inks or bleeds.
Ribbon markers.
Ribbon marker book marks can be sewn-in hardcover books. They can even match the head and tail bands on a book.
Head and tail bands.
These are the colorful woven threads on the top and bottom of the spine of a hardcover book. They come in solid color or variegated. We have a selection to choose from.
In conclusion, we have many book products. Explore our site for options to add to your book to make it unique. Let us know what other options you are considering, even if you don’t see it listed here.
Add 100 slip cases for a premium book edition.

Cost example …
A slip case might add $4 or more (different variables) to the manufacturing cost, and you may choose to sell the book in a slip case as a deluxe edition. This enables you to charge $10 more, $20 … or even more. Increase the profit significantly on the deluxe slip cover edition unit cost.
More on hardcover slip cases & add a vellum page …
Let’s say that you print 1,000 hardcover books. Then 100 of those books have a slip case, plus a vellum tip-in page with your signature. It’s pretty easy to sign 100 books personally, but signing 500 or 1,000 books personally might warrant a tip-in vellum, with your name in the printing of the vellum sheet. It’s an inexpensive option that means a higher retail price … and more profit.
