About a French flap book, gatefold book

The French flap book or gatefold book options.
A flap book or gatefold book is not typically available at on-demand services. It is hard to find because on-demand does not set-up to bind with flaps. Furthermore, most printers don’t offer it, but we do. We print them with front cover and/or back cover flaps. Does your printer?
In fact, we offer a ton of hard-to-find options to make your book unique. A soft cover can be extended, similar to the flaps on a dust jacket. Just as on a dust jacket that may have “about the author” on a flap — and perhaps a synopsis — the flaps on a soft cover can be designed with additional information.

A book by any other name.
What we term as French flap soft cover books, is also called a flap book or a gatefold book by self-publishers. They are synonymous.
Functional uses for a French flap book or a gatefold book.
In addition to adding information on a soft cover with one or two flaps — a gatefold book — you can also make the flap(s) especially wide so that they can hold the reader’s place.
If you have a very thick softcover, we can score the flap so it can bend as the reader folds it into the beginning, middle or back of the book. The number of scores adds to the costs, so please include that in your quote request.
