Full color book printing is done on offset, sheet-fed press — and in signatures — not print-on-demand. You can never say that POD books are printed. They are not, as they are output on a digital output device, not printed on press.

POD books can smudge when wiped with a moist finger. A provider outputs toner on cheap paper, not ink on coated stock. That’s not what high-quality book manufacturing should be for self-publishers. A quality book is never ‘gang’ printed. All high-quality books print in signatures, on press, and have a case with fine binding. They look beautiful.
