This is an example of an extremely successful Kickstarter funded campaign.
The Actual Kickstarter Funded Campaign …
The following is from the crowdfunding Campaign on Kickstarter, by Tim Buckley. The copy and image used here is with his permission. A three-volume, hardcover box set, in a book slip case, houses the first ten years of Ctrl+Alt+Del. It details the adventures of Ethan, Lucas, Lilah, and Zeke! Created by Tim Buckley. The Ctrl+Alt+Del 1.0 Box Set holds the entire first ten years of the comic. Everything from the first strip in 2002 to the end of the original Ethan and Lucas story are in 2012. The set also includes:
- Every Ctrl+Alt+Del comic published on the website between 2002 and November 2012.
- Nearly 50 additional comics that were never published on the website. Comics offered to donors, exclusive to other books, made for special events or game projects, etc.
- The first 450 Sillies strips.
- Wallpapers and artwork and t-shirt designs spanning the first decade, collected for the first time.
- Commentary and behind-the-scenes information throughout the books.
Tim went on to describe the book set details
Each 8 inch x 12 inch book is has cloth cover wrap, a foil-stamp hardcover, and it includes a matte dust jacket with front / back synergy artwork. The title and volume number reside on the spine. Inside, the comics are arranged two-per-page, side by side on quality matte art stock. Each comic is printed from my original, high-resolution Photoshop files and is accompanied by the title and original publish date. The set also comes with a cloth and foil-stamped slip case to house / display the three volumes.
It is an honor to be chosen to print his book sets. But, self-publishers don’t have to raise that kind of money to publish. Their books don’t have to be that elaborate.
