About the book, from the back cover:
Throughout this beautifully illustrated story, Apollo teaches your child, through jungle animals, the concept of rejection, acceptance, and how everyone is the same though they look different.
Apollo (the turtle) lands on Colorland where all the animals have bright colors. However, unlike the bright colored animals, Apollo’s colors are “dull and green.” Once the other animals see this, they do not want anything to do with him. Rex (the king) teaches the bright colored animals that even though Apollo looks different he is still an animal just like them.
Colorland is a realm that children can imagine with their hearts, where colors and animals possess the spirit of children and how they resolve issues of living and loving one another, and the importance of everyone’s image. CC Rechsteiner, in her debut children’s book, will teach a life lesson and create memories that will be a family tradition of stories to be reflected upon through generations. — Mary Carbone, Freelance Columnist, OCR – E-Quest.
Love the story, and feel the kids will be able to relate and understand that no matter how different someone is, in general we are the same. Great! Great story. Love the pictures — tied in really well with the moral of story. — Alma Romo
