Book Slip Case
A book slip case is simply a box open on just the spine side. It can be made for a single book or for sets of two or more volumes. This is another custom book printing option. The book or books slide into a book slip case that is custom manufactured. The case itself is open on the spine side, so that the book can be places inside the case. We also manufacture the book slip case so that both narrow ends are open. It is your choice!
A fine photography or art book is that much more beautiful when it comes in a book slip case.
If you have a high page count book, break the book up into two or more volumes and package in a book slip case.
Choose from a Variety of Materials for your Book Slip Case
Hardcover coffee table books can have a printed cover wrap, a cloth cover wrap, or even a faux material. We have a lot to choose from. The book might or may not have a dust jacket. If you want to really set it apart, add a French fold dust jacket.
The case can be in the same material or not. Design it anyway you wish. Before finalizing the design, it is wise to get a quote. That way, we can advise you of any possible problems.
Most often the case has a blind stamp or a foil stamp. Some also have a permanent adhesive, printed sticker. It is called a tip-on image. It will be printed with a UV or gloss varnish over process color.
Soft cover or paperback books with a flat spine can also be in a case.
A Book Slip Case is Not Expensive
The case starts at a low price point. The more you print, the lower the unit cost. Self-publishers also can order smaller quantities to ship with their books.
Let’s say that you are printing 1,000 hardcover books. You can order just 500 cases. The reason you would do this is to have a regular edition and a premium edition. The premium edition sells for so much more. Books in a case are frequently signed by the author.
A slip case cannot be ordered as a one-off standalone item. They manufacture simultaneously with the book for the best fit. However, we can manufacture as few as 100 slip cases with 1,000 hardcover, or 2,000 soft cover books.
