Hardcover Book Bindings often have Dust Jackets
The dust jacket and flaps often contain promotional information about the book and the author. Typically, one flap has a summary and the other flap has a short biography. If authors do not want a dust jacket, the summary and biography can easily fit on the back cover of a process color printed book cover wrap.
If you open a hardcover book binding, you will see endpapers glued to the inside front and inside back cover of the book. The endpaper on a book printed on press is twice the width of a single text page. The ends are not part of the text block. It is interesting to notes page versus case measurements. It the text page size in 8.5″ x 11″, the hard case of the book will be a little larger. This can vary slightly depending on the bindery’s standards.
