Seattle independent publishing has come of age

Seattle independent publishing for authors to truly self-publish.
Seattle independent publishing for authors is Star Print Brokers. Why? Star Print Brokers is revolutionary in our approach, since 1999. We don’t think print on-demand books, POD, are not good enough! Our feeling is that authors, or the companies they own should be the be the publisher of their books. Self-publishers should not only keep 100 percent of their profit, but they should also make more profit on every copy of every book title.
Our approach to independent publishing is revolutionary for authors. It’s a game changer. On-demand publishing is not us!
Old-fashioned print on-demand.
Print on-demand books are not good enough for independent publishing.
Unless you’ve been living on a deserted island without internet access, as an author you know the basic ins and out of on-demand publishing. You realize that you can get a few copies of a book printed. But, unless your goal is a cheap paperback novel, the books are not what you envisioned. Now, why is that? There are two ways to produce on-demand book.
- Output from an output device. Translation … this is like a desktop printer that uses toner, only they are bigger and have more bells and whistles. They still print out a page at a time, and output devices still most often use toner instead of ink.
- Short run on press. At least they are printing ink on paper! But, your book may be printed with other books. Regardless, if there is any color in the book, don’t count on it being “pleasing color”. Okay, that is a color term used when printing on press. They might not know that jargon.
Good luck getting a well-bound hardcover book from on-demand services. Your options will be few and far between unless you print with this Seattle independent publishing company!
Distribution.
If you use an on-demand service, do you actually get the self-publisher’s book into brick-and-mortar bookstores, or do they just have access to those bookstores? Well. if you have your own ISBN and barcode, you already have access to brick-and-mortar bookstores. You are in the database.
About book packagers.
Book packagers typically take your book and have it output. There are extra add-ons that you get with the packages, and they are options that you may or may not need. Regardless, you can buy these services yourself. They may include cover design, editing, proofreading and distribution.
They may also include a ISBN. Ouch, be really careful with ISBNs. Buy it yourself. If you don’t, the book packager becomes the publisher of your book, and you only get royalties. You aren’t supposed to get just royalties. Independent publishing means that you are supposed to keep all your profit!
Seattle independent publishing is coming of age — here — at Star Print Brokers.
Are you our typical client? If unit cost, color, binding, and custom options are important to you, you are our typical independent publishing client!
By the way, we are even more old-fashioned when it comes to printing books, as on-demand printing is relatively new. So, how are we different? We only print high-quality books on press, with ink. Printing in an art, and for us, it is not “commodity printing”. We are color experts and with us, you have many more choices in paper, cloth, cover wrapping, dust jackets, large format book, slip cases, and more.
Typically, our cost per copy is lower than with book packagers or print on-demand services. Why? Because we print on press with ink. This means that we set of the presses properly to print books in signatures, and QC for color, printing, and binding. We can’t print 5 books and have it be economical. Instead, we print a minimum of 1,000 hardcover or 2,000 soft cover books. We regularly print 5,000 or 10,000 books.
We are the Seattle independent publishing company. While we can print in USA, most often we print overseas. By printing with select printers, we can provide better quality books than is the USA, and at a lower unit cost. We stand behind all the books we print, and we are a wonderful Seattle independent publishing company. But, best of all, we’ve already selected the best printers and have worked with them for a long time. You know, they don’t all come from one country. Printers, like people, are not all the same. We only work with the best!
Are you our typical Seattle independent publishing client? If unit cost, color, binding, and custom options are important to you, you are our typical Seattle independent publishing client! But, we don’t just work in Seattle. The bulk of our clients are worldwide. Get a quote today.
