FTP Books — use our FTP to transfer book files. Self-Publishers have choices!
Use Our FTP site to FTP Books, or use DropBox, or Email
Option 1 — Star Print Brokers own FTP, to FTP books
Books with high-resolution images, such as a children’s book or a novel, can be uploaded to our FTP. You will need to have a client-server installed, such as FileZilla, which has a version for both Mac and Windows, to FTP books.

Option 2 — DropBox
DropBox is an option for transferring large files instead of SPB’s FTP. DropBox is a great way to FTP books.
Option 3 — Email
If the books files or PDFs are not too large, they can be emailed. We can accept about 50 megabytes. You may or may not be able to send PDFs that large. PDFs can also be split into smaller sections. For example, if you are limit by your email service in sending 10 MB per email, and you have a 40 megabyte file, you could break it up into four 10 megabyte sections.
Whichever option you choose …
… it can be helpful to include native files (InDesign / Quark) and PDFs when you FTP books. PDFs should have all printer’s marks, use document bleed settings. The text should be sent in one PDF or folder. But to print correctly, it needs to be in single pages, not spreads. Each of the other components should be in separate files. Other PDFs or files could be the cover, cover wrap, dust jacket, endpapers, spot varnish file, foil stamp. It all depends on the binding style and printing customization you choose.
Please compress the file before sending. Use WinZip (Windows) or Stuffit (Mac). If you need more information, see our prepress guide.
