Self-publishing on Amazon – print with SPB

Self-publishing on Amazon? We print the best books. Amazon drives the most traffic.
Authors should not be self publishing on Amazon … that is, when printing with Star Print Brokers and selling on Amazon is the best of both worlds.
If you use an on-demand service, do you actually get your book into brick-and-mortar bookstores, or just have access to those bookstores? Here is our secret. If you have your own ISBN and barcode, you already have access to brick-and-mortar bookstores. You are in the database.
Publishing on Amazon can be beneficial — but there is one caveat — the quality of the print book. Authors have decisions to make. There is not one true “shopping place” when it comes to online self-publishing. Although many websites claim to be everything to everyone.
If your book needs to be high-quality, print it with Star Print Brokers. Open an author’s account at Amazon, and sell the book where you find high traffic online.
Print the highest quality books on offset press, with us. Then, sell your book on Amazon.
Star Print Brokers fills a need in the marketplace that authors won’t get when self publishing on Amazon. We print high-quality books on press. Also, we print photography books, art books and gallery catalogs, and process color books of all kinds. Star prints books where color and quality are critical. On-demand services cannot rival our quality. They cannot provide all the custom options that we offer.
Larger quantities.
Novelists may use print on-demand (POD) services. They may find their POD book is selling well and need to print in larger quantities. This is because the unit cost of POD is high compared to our cost per unit. Star Print Brokers’ minimum printing run on press is 1,000 hardcover, 2,000 soft cover books, or 1,000 board books. Our unit cost is low when comparing to POD. While we can print fewer books, it does not make sense. The cost for 500 books is about the same as 1,000. There are basic costs to set-up the press and ocean ship from Asia.
We hardly ever print in the USA any longer, and unless a self-publisher needs to save time, the cost is much higher than overseas. The USA quality is not as good. We use select overseas printers and never print in China. Not all printers are the same. We stand behind the books we print and work with only the best, proven printers … since 1999.
Commodity printing on press … No!
Commodity press printing is defined as lower-quality printing. also, commodity printing is for short runs and the run is usually of lesser quality. Close attention is not paid to paper stock, color, trim, bleeds. Star Print Brokers is focused on quality.
Gang printing … another No!
Sometimes commodity printing means gang runs. This is when several titles are printing at the same time. Commodity printing might also mean that a book prints on web presses, and on rolls of paper. This is how newspapers and magazines print, but not high-quality books.
Star Print Brokers prints on large sheets, in signatures. Signatures are booklets made up of a number of pages printing on a sheet. Then the sheet folds into a booklet. The bindery will then collate “booklets” to form the text block. This is how we print professional, high-quality books.
Digitally output books.
This is the most common way to get a book into print for those self publishing on Amazon. Pages are output from a digital output device that is similar to desktop copiers. It outputs a page with toner or ink jetting. Toner will smear when you wipe a moist finger across the page. It’s a good solution for books that don’t need to be high-quality. There are too many problems with digital output printing and binding. We print with ink on commercial printing presses.
Distribution.
It is difficult for a self-publishing author to get into physical bookstores. Your title is usually placed on a list of books available. The list is made available to bookstores. You might be offered the ‘opportunity’ to buy an ad on the list or in a catalog, promoting your book.
Unless a distributor can get your physical book in brick-and-mortar bookstores, a service which you pay for; don’t have high expectations. This is why Star Print Brokers likes self-publishing on Amazon. It is making your book available to a tremendous amount of traffic. Print your book with Star Print Brokers, and sell it on Amazon with your own author account.
Website.
How does your website rank, and then also see how Amazon ranks. Amazon is driving an immense amount of traffic. Check page rank at a site like Alexa.com. Selling books on your website is great, and especially if you already have the traffic. Self-publishing on Amazon — meaning selling your already printed book there — gives you exposure to high traffic.
Book Marketing.
Traditional publishers will spend only so much to market a self-publisher’s book, and their budget is limited. They always expect authors to develop social media. If an author is already marketing their book, they should not receive only a royalty. Print books yourself to keep all the profit!
Book cover and text interior page design.
Even if you are publishing on Amazon, you will have costs associated with book cover and text design. That is, unless you are a designer yourself, and know InDesign.
Edit/proofread
It’s another cost you can’t escape, unless you are good at editing and proofreading yourself.
Self-publishing on Amazon, conclusion …
