POD or print on-demand: If you have a handful of black ink, soft cover and paperback books to print, go for POD! Just make sure that you get 100 percent of the profit. Don’t expect too much as far as quality goes. Toner (not ink) smudges when turning pages. POD books are output and most often, printing is not on press. The POD hardcover binding is mediocre at best.
Book Packagers: Books are written about how bad some book packagers are for indie publishing. They promise everything, but often don’t come through. Many book packagers are in some cases, vanity publishers.

Quotes include Shipping and Delivery: We include all foreseeable costs in our quotes. You probably know that getting a printing quote here in the USA means that delivery is an add-on cost. It is usually not in your quote. When you compare quotes, know that unless the quote says otherwise, we include DDP or Delivery Duty Paid in our quotes. We also include one round of physical proofs. They are almost always in color and output digitally. Press proofs are available at an additional cost.

Make sure you buy your own ISBN. Don’t accept a number that someone “provides” as part of their service. What happens is that you don’t receive full book sales profit. You get royalties, only.
